11 Types of Sleeves for Wedding Dresses

In this series for wedding dresses, I will be outlining 11 important wedding dress features for sleeves, which will be the capped, petal, t-shirt, spaghetti, juliet, poet, illusion, balloon, bell, three-quarter length, and the bishop. I have previously written about choosing the perfect wedding dress for your body type and 9 Types of Necklines for Wedding Dresses and this falls into the same category. When selecting your wedding dress, consider the season and features of the arms. This will be as important because after all you want to compliment your body type. With that being said, here are the 11 types of sleeves for wedding dresses:

Wedding Gowns with Short Sleeves

The Capped:
The capped sleeve fits closely to the top of the shoulder. This is a dress that compliments arms that are slender or fit because this type of dress draws attention the arm (Photo: David’s Bridal, 2011).

The Petal:
The petal sleeve have two pieces of material that overlap on the upper arm to create a flower petal affect to the sleeve. This is a sleeve that compliments a fuller arm shape!

The T- Shirt:
The t-shirt is similar to a t-shirt sleeve and this sleeve provides coverage for your upper arms.

The Spaghetti Strap:
The spaghetti strap is a skinny strap attached to each side of the dress with no sleeves.

Wedding Gowns with Long Sleeves

The Juliet:
The juliet sleeve is long and romantic and provide padding around the upper arm and the sleeve is fitted to the remainder of the arm to the wrist.

The Balloon:
The balloon sleeve is long and is similar to the Juliet sleeve, it puffs like a balloon at the upper arm and is fitted to the remained for the arm to the wrist.

The Poet:
The poet sleeve is fitted own the forearm and it flares out towards the bottom of the wrist.

The Illusion:
The illusion sleeve provides a covered look, yet elegant.

The Bell:
The bell sleeves are long and fitted sleeves that flare out at the wrists.

The Three-Quarter Length:
The three quarter length sleeve extends from the shoulder to the forearm and stops at the elbow and continues down the wrist. This is a dress that compliments most body styles.

The Bishop:
The bishop sleeve is full throughout the forearm and is gathered at the cuff of the wrist.
