The local farmers markets will soon, if not already have great selections of fruits and vegetables available. Along with the stores and if you are lucky to have grown your own vegtables and fruit, the problem is to get the veggies and fruit not spoil. Tupperware has something that can help! They have Fridgesmarts! These have a scalloped bottom to keep moisture off of your fruits. There is a display on the side that shows different pictures of the fruit to tell you which venting to do best for your fruits.
Ever wonder why strawberries mold so quickly? It's because they don't like air and need to have both vents closed! Broccoli likes to have some air, so you keep one vent open.
But imagine having brocolli for up to 6 weeks, grapes for 3 weeks, strawberrries for 2 weeks or more (my kids ate them so I couldn't see how much longer they could have lasted)!
The average family throws out 24 pounds of fruits and vegetables a month. You could eliminate or substantially diminish that number by using Fridgesmarts to keep your fruits and veggies fresher longer.
Tupperware currently has Fridgesmarts on a BOGO sale. 2 sets, for $72 (plus shipping and tax). You get one set free, so you get one for yourself and one for a gift. The sale ends July 8th.
